For those of you who don’t know – the house we’re living in at the moment is not our own. We’re living in a house as house mentors for “at risk” teenagers. To sum up our role in a sentence we live here and make sure they don’t have crazy wild parties.
The house we live in is a huge 8 bedroom place probably built in the early eighties for/by an Italian family – we have determined this by first of all the size (three generations of family could live here quite comfortably..............) and the interesting mouldings and the like around the light fittings (remarkably similar to that found in Nonna and Father’s old house.) Now within this delightful, Italian-moulding abundant, slightly tarnished by angry teenagers who don’t like to clean house, we have a little one bedroom “unit” or “haven” to call our own which is within the house but blocked off from the rest of the house if that makes sense. It consists of one bedroom (obviously) a rather large lounge/dining room, kitchen and bathroom.
Now for anyone reading this blog who hasn’t caught up with the news yet we are expecting a little addition to our family come February. So in order to get ready for this event we needed to create a room, within our large lounge room, within our area, within the house that the Italians built. Enter Lyall and John with all manner of power tools, materials and expertise. Lyall, John and Steve spent last Monday creating a wall to one side of our living area – it works very well and we still have plenty of space for a lounge room and dining area. It’s not finished yet (just needs a “lick o paint” and a baby) but we’re well on the way – watch this space for more up to date photos as it all comes together!
Big thanks to Lyall and John for all their time and effort and to Lyall and Steve A who came later in the week to put the door on and to bring the cot and change table over.
Snickers going "ummmmm, excuse me but these plans were not submitted to me for approval."
Steve had a go of the nail gun
Daddy Steve putting the cot together (with help from Uncle Steve) for JB :-)

We need a photo of the door Em! xx
Take a photo of all your paint samples stuck on the wall and blog that and we can all cast a vote on the colour.
Must advertise that when my Steve walked in and saw Em's couple of dozen paint samples blu-tacked to the wall he said "you're going to need a lot more of those to cover the wall". He's a tool, but a funny tool :)
