Last Tuesday night Steve and I trucked on in to the Gabba (with about 37,000 other people) to watch Australia take on South Africa in a Twenty 20 Cricket match. Now I'm not exactly what you'd call an "avid" cricket fan but since marrying Steve I have learned the basics of the scoring and general rules so I was able to follow the general idea.
This is the second live sporting event I've been to and I think what you pay for is the atmosphere. Cos you really do get a better view watching it on the TV that you do actually at the venue but you don't get all the other entertainment sitting at home. Such as watching the cops roam around kicking people out for various reasons including beach ball throwing and starting mexican waves. Or observing the girls who from what I could gather don't care as much about the run rate as they do about drinking more beer and picking up the equally drunk guy sitting behind them. That may be a little cynical of me but you can't honestly say that the most comfy way to watch a three hour game is in short shorts, revealing top and silver stilettos (or my personal favourite, short shorts, silver stilettos and a see through white singlet over a Australia flag bikini top - that's just classy!)
So it was a fun night out for Steve and I and we had a really good time clapping and cheering the Aussies to victory and we had plenty of laughs the least of which was not when some people a couple of rows behind us (who sounded just a tad under the "weather") were very enthusiastically calling out "Go the Hussey's" thinking that both the Hussey brothers were still batting together even though one of them had got out about 15 minutes previously - this continued until the people directly behind us set them straight :-)

Ummmm...ya. Go the Aussies. Go, go.
Did I sound excited, or did my disdain for any large sporting events accidentally show through?
:) :)
