PLEASE! – if you love me at all sponsor Steve’s mullet or all my pain will be for nothing!!
What is a mullet??
To say that the mullet is a hairstyle barely even scratches the surface of the issue. The mullet is a way of life, it is a state of mind, it is every person who wears it. Physically it is characterized by short hair on the top, front, and sides of the head, followed by a long drape of hair on the back. Typical accessories to the mullet include moustaches, scraggly beards and/or goatees, and sunglasses. It is suggested by many top laboratories that the mullet, as it slowly reaches maturity, begins to grow tentacles into the brain of the victim, which affect several areas of the brain and fundamentally alter the candidate's actions and behavioural responses as well as steadily decreasing IQ levels. (as defined by ratemymullet.com) (yes – that is an actual website!)
Allow me to explain.................if you know us you’ll possibly have noticed that Steve’s hair has been getting longer and longer in recent months. This just started as Steve going –“I’ve never had long had long hair so I’m going to grow it and see what it looks like.” (you know – just because) It went through some interesting stages but now I have actually grown quite fond of his curls. So imagine my reaction when he comes home the other night and says – “I’ve decided to cut my hair into a mullet............................but it’s for a good cause.” Well he’d played the “good cause” card so what could I do but throw myself “wholeheartedly” behind it.
You may or may not have heard of Octobeard which is a fundraiser being run by Scripture Union (SU) to raise funds for chaplaincy. The idea was to grow a beard for the month of October and get sponsored to do so, with the proceeds being donated to SU.
As most of you know Steve is a chaplain and we’ve decided to take a different direction but with the same purpose – Steve will be having his hair cut into a mullet next Thursday and keeping it until Sunday. So we are looking for sponsors to raise money for the awesome work that he does with kids and their families at the school.
It’s really easy to be a sponsor! You can do it via PayPal online (see instructions below) or in person if you see one of us. (donations are tax deductible)
If you want to sponsor Steve and his mullet for the Chaplaincy at Taigum State School online (via PayPal) do the following:
1. Go to www.octobeard.com.au
2. Click on "sponsor a beard"
3. In the "choose who you will sponsor" part, go down to Octobeard teams and click on "Taigum SS"
4. Follow the instructions. It will direct you to the PayPal website and then after you've made your donation it will send you back to the Octobeard website and you can get your tax deductable receipt. It will also email you a receipt.
It’s as easy as that!
See below for what he looks like now and what he could look like after next Thursday – positively scary! (it’s for a good cause, it’s for a good cause, it’s for a good cause, it’s for a good cause..............) (sorry, that last bit was to help me through, not to guilt you guys into sponsoring!)
