Christmas in Seven Photos or Less!

Phew! I must be getting old as I have to say I did breathe a sigh of relief when all the Christmas hoopla was over. It was fun though - just full on :-) This is the first year that I think William has been really aware of what's going on. He's been doing the advent calendar and learning about "delayed gratification" as his little fingers itched to unwrap the presents under the tree. So proud of him though because not one present was touched before Christmas morning. One of my favourite moments was on Christmas morning when William had opened his first present. It was a T-shirt and he was ever so excited about it (it has Lightning McQueen on it!) but his face when we handed him another present was this precious mix of disbelief, excitement, joy - he couldn't believe he was getting another present so quickly! I loved his innocence and lack of "expecting" anything.

Anyway - Christmas celebrations spanned a couple of days. Christmas Eve day we went out to Kate and Steve's new 'farm' and had a yummy brunch with Dad, Michelle and Granny before Dad needed to be back at work. The photo below is of William opening his present - a soccer goal and ball :-) It took him a bit to understand the present opening concept but he eventually got in to the ripping with enthusiasm.

I love this photo - Toby took William by surprise as I snapped this shot.
Christmas Eve and Steve was doing what I guess many a dad does on Christmas Eve...
Christmas morning and William looks ever so grown up on his 'big boy' bike

Christmas Day was a flurry of Skyping Steve's parents and sister into our lounge room so they could be in on William's present opening antics, breakfast with Mum and Lyall before heading off to church, back home briefly to pick up what we needed to go to lunch at my aunt and uncle's house, lunch (including a swim and more bike riding on their big, long driveway) with the family at my aunt and uncle's house, to Kate and Steve's house for presents with them and Mum and Lyall and finally home to pop an exhausted two year old in bed. Boxing Day and the day after Boxing Day were then spent with Steve and Lyall putting in door in our garage/playroom and Mum and I going on a rather intense cleaning extravaganza - ie linen cupboard pulled apart and organised, kitchen cupboards re-organised, cleaning behind the stove etc etc. So therefore I was pretty happy to spend yesterday walking and bike riding over the bridge with my boys, before having a bit of a relax at the beach, followed by an afternoon sleep at home :-)
