I took this photo a couple of weeks ago and somehow missed blogging it then I thought of it today. It was the night of Cassidy’s Christmas concert (see one of my previous posts!) Isaac has been swimming for about 2 hours and for some of that time it was my pleasure to sit out by the pool and watch him, throw his diving sticks and critique his dives.
Anyway at one point he was playing on the step and he turned to me and our conversation went something like this. (please note: this is after months of Isaac informing us that he doesn’t like babies because they cry and wear nappies and he doesn’t seem particularly interested in the cousin that his uncle and I are going to present him with shortly.)
Isaac: “Aunty Em, will your baby go “wah, wah, wah and ahhhhh”?” and proceeded to throw himself off the step miming a crying baby going in the water when it didn’t like it/want to.
Emma: “Well it might, but I’m going to try and teach it to like water and not be scared of it. What do you care anyway? You told me you don’t like babies.”
Isaac: (with a slight shrug and sigh) “Well I suppose if it got in trouble in the water I could probably help it.”
So while I probably won’t leave my baby’s water safety totally in Isaac’s hands, it’s good to know that perhaps he is starting to warm to the the idea ever so slightly and that if disaster does strike he “supposes” he could “probably” help it!
Love you heaps Isaac! xoxoxo p.s - you are a fantastic swimmer and I'm so proud of you!!
