We were very happy to have Miss Cassidy over at our place for a visit last Saturday. I picked her up in the morning and we went to McDonalds for breakfast and to meet Uncle Steve there (who had had a youth group sleep over the night before)
While there she warily eyed Steve’s dad (she’s not keen on facial hair) over her bacon and egg muffin and then proceeded to quickly charm her way into the heart of one of our youth group girls who hadn’t been picked up yet. They played in the playground and parted with a hug!
From there we went home where we painted each other’s nails and tried to keep cool then we went to the shops to do some jobs. We also had a rest, which was met with protests at first but then she was out for the count for an hour and a bit and poor sleep deprived Uncle Steve had a couple more hours of catch up sleep while Cassidy played in the bottom of the shower in another attempt to keep cool.
We captured a few photos of our nail painting adventure (see below) I asked her what colours she wanted ( I have pink, blue and sparkles) and she said she would like pink on one hand and sparkles on the other. So we did this and then it was on to toenails where she wanted blue on one foot and sparkles on the other. After she told me this was the....... *cough*........ “design” that she wanted she looked up at me with those big eyes and a big grin and said “This is going to be weird isn’t it?”
When I had finished painting all her nails she said to me, “You’ve never seen this before have you?” referring to the rather creative colour scheme of her nails!
I asked her if she would like to paint my nails (yes – you read right – I offered my four year old niece free reign with 3 bottles of nail polish and my nails!! It was ok though – I had two full bottles of nail polish remover handy – though I'm sorry Kate I don’t think the t-shirt she was wearing will ever be the same again!) and she liked this idea very much. After completing one hand and beginning work on the next and without really looking up she said,” I’m a good paint nailer aren’t I, Aunty Em?”
It was a good day with lots of giggling!
